Bernie has been a Mercy Ships UK trustee since January 2025 and chairs the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
Bernie has spent the last 28 years working in financial services in a variety of leadership and finance roles. Most recently, he was CEO of the Retail Division at Legal & General serving 14 customers in the UK & USA through a team of over 5,000 people. Before that, Bernie held a variety of roles including CEO of Legal & General Insurance, Managing Director of Individual Retirement, Group Financial Controller and Investor Relations Director. Prior to Legal & General, he worked for Aviva.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has a degree in Mathematics from Warwick University.
He has been a supporter of Mercy Ships and several other charities for many years.
