Operating theatre is now open

After five months, the operating theatres aboard the Africa Mercy are back in action. Volunteer surgeons, doctors and nurses have been busy this week tending to our very first patients including children with orthopaedic problems.

The first surgeries have included restoring functionality to patients with a clubfoot, straightening the legs of some pretty cute bow legged children and hernia surgeries that have brought immense relief for quite a few individuals.

This is only the beginning as the hospital gears up for a full surgery schedule in Madagascar over the next seven months. We expect to see countless lives transformed.
