Transform a child’s life, like Amadou’s

Thank you for listening to our BBC Radio 4 Appeal. You heard about a little boy called Amadou.

Amadou’s leg was weak from rickets and malnutrition. Every step hurt. His caregiver knew he had problems when he first started walking. But it was not until he was four years old that he had the chance of surgery.

After surgery, you could hear Amadou’s ripples of laughter echoing through the wards of our floating hospital. He raced down the children’s ward on toy cars, bursting with happiness. This wasn’t just about his surgery for Amadou – this was the first day of the rest of his life.

Amadou before and after surgery

Volunteers on board our hospital ships can transform lives with free, safe surgery and provide training for local healthcare professionals.

Regular donations allow us to plan for the future. Please will you help transform a life like Amadou’s?
