Parker Family Receive Point of Light

We’re pleased to share that long-time Mercy Ships volunteers Gary and Susan Parker and their children, Carys and Wesley, have received the Daily Point of Light Award today for their decades of service on our hospital ship.

The Daily Point of Light Award, created by George H.W. Bush in 1990, celebrates the power of individuals to spark change and improve the world.

The Parker family is honoured to be named a Daily Point of Light, particularly today as millions remember the life and legacy of President Bush.

Thank you for helping to shine a light on the Parker family’s service alongside Mercy Ships.

“We can find meaning and reward by serving some higher purpose than ourselves, a shining purpose, the illumination of a thousand points of light … we all have something to give.” – U.S. President George H.W. Bush
