“I nearly fell off my chair when I received an invitation from the Lancet asking me to write an article on Mercy Ships,” explains volunteer Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgeon, Mr Leo Cheng.
“Lancet Oncology is one of the top world-renowned medical journals with a high impact factor,” continues Leo. “I was humbled and in awe when I received the invitation.”
We are delighted to share that ‘Solutions for tackling the global surgery crisis in West Africa’ was published in The Lancet Oncology on 1st July 2025.
The six authors of this prestigious piece include Leo Cheng, Hilary Cheng, Tertius Venter, Mark Shrine, Gary Parker and Michelle White – volunteers who have dedicated many years to supporting the work of Mercy Ships.
