You know those moments when timings come together so perfectly that you can only laugh and praise God for his incredible provision – we’d like to share a wonderful new partnership that highlights just that.
Back in May 2024, our Senior Philanthropy Manager, Shawna Scullion, began to connect with businesses within the maritime organisation Shulte Group. One of those maritime services was a software company called cruisePAL.
cruisePAL specialises in tailored software for cruise ships, which was exactly what our IT team were on the hunt for and in particular, new software for gangway control.
The gangway on a ship is the entrance point for everyone arriving and leaving. Every day crew members, patients, medical staff from in-country and many more arrive to board our ships. To ensure the safety of the patients and crew living on board, gangway control software carries out security checks, manages crew numbers and visitors. Alongside that, gangway control monitors the angle of the gangway and uses real-time sensor data to adjust the gangway to tidal and wave movements.
Partnering with cruisePAL has enabled our IT team to receive a fully personalised package tailored to the unique needs of Mercy Ships. With an incredible 80% discount, cruisePAL’s generosity is saving Mercy Ships over £82,000 this year.
