Auld Alliance Cycle Challenge (insert August) 2011 – Get on your bike and transform lives!
We are looking for cyclists of all abilities, and from all areas of theUK, to take part in the Auld Alliance Cycle Challenge 2011 and raise vital funds for Mercy Ships.
The Auld Alliance Cycle Challenge is a unique cycling event, now in its fifth year and run by Prentice Events (www.prenticeevents.com). Prentice Events creates and delivers bespoke charity cycle events which enable participants to raise funds for Schools and related organisations and to support causes that help the education and health of those in greatest need.
Starting with a photocall at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh and then travelling to Hull by minibus, cyclists will travel by overnight ferry to Zeebrugge and from here the 250 mile, 5 day cycle ride begins. Cyclists will enjoy the scenic route through Belguim and into France with the cycle ending along the Champs Elysee in Paris. Cyclists will be split into three groups depending upon fitness and speed and therefore cyclists of different capabilities can be catered for.
Cyclists will be staying in Campanille hotels during the cycle ride and in previous years, Prentice Events have organised a number of civic receptions and ceilidhs along the way in some of the towns where they have forged lifelong friendships with the local people. Once cyclists have completed the ride into Paris, they can enjoy two nights relaxing and taking in the sights before the group heads back to the ferry.
The cost for this event is only £600 per person (payable to Prentice Events) and includes all accommodation on a bed a breakfast basis, overnight ferry crossings including dinner and breakfast, all minibus travel and full support team with bike trailers. Thereafter, we hope that supporters will take up the challenge of raising vital funds through sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, so that we can continue to transform and save the lives of men, women and children in Africa through the provision of free medical and community development services.
