Teddy Bears of Hope

Visitors to this year’s Southampton Boat Show will have the unique opportunity to name hand-knitted teddies that are being sent to child patients on board the world’s largest charity hospital ship – the Africa Mercy.
While being treated on board the Africa Mercy, all the child patients receive a teddy which they can take home with them when they leave and visitors to the Boat Show are being asked to name the teddies that will be given to children in South Africa and Sierra Leone, in return for a small donation.
Judy Polkinhorn, Executive Director of Mercy Ships UK, said, “Something as simple as a teddy makes a huge difference to the children being treated on board the ship. The teddies bring them such comfort and it will be even more special for the children when they hear that someone in the UK has taken the time to name their teddy.
“Everyone who makes a donation and names a teddy is contributing directly to providing free medical and humanitarian care to the people of Africa and we are extremely grateful.”
Vististors to the show are welcome to pop along to see Mercy Ships at stand JO63.
