Security Foiling Limited, who chose Mercy Ships as their nominated charity for 2011, has just sent their first cash donation of £1,250 to bring hope and healing to the poor.

Security Foiling are independent world leading experts in foil and hologram security, and this donation represents £5 for every MicroPOISE machine sold in Africa. They hope that sales will remain strong so they can transform more lives with Mercy Ships in the future.

Operations Manager, Mark Filby said: “I heard that the Africa Mercy was anchored off Togo and spoke to our employee Marcel. I knew that Marcel’s father, who lives in Togo, had an eye complaint. Marcel phoned his father - and not long after, he got in touch with Mercy Ships, and received specialist treatment.”

Employee Marcel, who originates from Togo, said: “My father had his eye operation on board the Africa Mercy. Without the support and generosity of volunteers and companies Mercy Ships would not be possible.”

Mick Castleton, Technical Director, said: “Being aware of our corporate responsibility, and with substantial increased sales from Africa, we have been looking for some time for a suitable charity to support, which could help African people in need.”

Staff at Security Foiling are also fundraising to generate money for Mercy Ships. Kathleen Bennett, Sales Administrator at Security Foiling, along with her husband Mac, recently took park in the Ipswich Half Marathon and Great North Run in aid of Mercy Ships. She has one more marathon left to complete her challenge – the Dublin Marathon at the end of October.
