Mercy Ships UK has appointed its first Fundraising Manager in Scotland as part of its commitment to developing the charity across the UK.

Susie Hope, who is based near Biggar, joined Mercy Ships this month with more than 15 years experience in the fundraising sector in Scotland.

Prior to her last post as Marketing & Development Director at St Margaret’s School in Edinburgh, Susie has held fundraising and management positions in a variety of charitable organisations including The Meningitis Trust, The Anthony Nolan Trust and Perennial.

Speaking about her appointment, Susie said: “I am thrilled to be the first Fundraising Manager for Mercy Ships in Scotland. I am greatly looking forward to working with our increasing number of volunteers to ensure our profile and fundraising in Scotland continues to grow.

“Mercy Ships is a dynamic, forward thinking charity in the UK and it is really making a difference in the world so I am immensely proud to be part of it.”

Judy Polkinhorn, Executive Director of Mercy Ships UK, said: “We are delighted to have Susie on board and her experience in Scotland is invaluable to us.  We have always had tremendous support in Scotland and we are committed to growing that support over the coming years.”
