Schools

Schools play a vital role in our work. By partnering with us, teachers and pupils can help transform the lives of children and families in some of the world's poorest countries. Pupils can also benefit from gaining a wider understanding of health matters which affect those in developing nations, and build up useful skills organising fundraising events in support of our work.

There are a number of ways that you can support Mercy Ships through your school:

Invite a Speaker
One of our trained, volunteer speakers can give a talk at school assemblies, evening groups or during individual class sessions. Alternatively, we can provide you with DVDs or PowerPoint Presentations that powerfully communicate our work to young people.

Click here to download a Speaker Engagement request form and return it to us at the address provided on the form. To book a speaker by phone, or to request a form by post, please contact Jane Palmer on 01438 347481 or email jane.palmer@mercyships.org.uk

Schools Packs
Resources Packs are now available for Junior Schools, packed with facts, ideas, themes and activities for assemblies and collective worship, and including curriculum-linked information sheets for RE, Geography and PHSE. Resources Packs are planned for Senior Schools. General information can be provided.

Fundraising Events
Organising a fundraising event is a great way for young people to broaden their skills and work as a team while raising funds to help poor people out of poverty. Not only is it a great opportunity to have fun, but fundraising is easily tied in with learning relevant to the curriculum.

You can hold an event in the classroom, out of lessons, or a sports-based event, and even put Mercy Ships forward for the next charity for the year or Mufti day! We'll happily provide you with the materials, ideas and the resources you'll need to begin raising funds and awareness for Mercy Ships.
