Mercy Ships is committed to respecting donors' online privacy and security. The purpose of this policy is to make donors aware of our privacy policy and security practices, and to inform donors about the way any personal information gathered is collected and used.
Information we collect
In order to accept on-line donations and better communicate with donors, various web pages will ask for personal information such as name, contact and credit card details as well as demographic and professional information.
How Mercy Ships uses this information
Mercy Ships uses information gathered to complete any transaction request made online, such as a donation or request for information. Credit Card information is used only for payment processing and is not retained for any other purpose. From time to time, we may also use donors' information to contact donors with information we feel may be of interested to them. We will always give donors the opportunity to decline or “opt out” of receiving such information or solicitations.
Who we share this information with
Except as noted in this section, Mercy Ships will not disclose donors' personal information to others unless we have their permission to do so or are required by law. We may however share donors' personal data with business partner(s) who are acting on our behalf to complete the activities described above. Such business partner(s) are governed by our privacy policy with respect to use of this data.
Choice
Mercy Ships will not use or share the personally identifiable information, which donors provide to us online, in ways unrelated to the ones described above without letting donors know first and offering them a choice. If donors do not want to receive unsolicited direct marketing requests from us, we will do our best to honour their request. Mercy Ships is committed to ensuring the security of donors' personal information. We use Internet encryption software, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, when collecting or transferring sensitive data.
