Hannah Warren, 25, a nurse from Milton Keynes recently returned from Haiti having spent two weeks offering vital aid to thousands of affected earthquake victims.

Hannah joined a team of Mercy Ships volunteers to offer her skills as a nurse to victims of the Haiti earthquake. Hannah had originally applied to volunteer with Mercy Ships on its floating hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, currently on a seven month outreach in Togo.   read more »

Mercy Ships celebrated International Nurses Day on 12th May in recognition of more than 20,000 nurses who have volunteered with Mercy Ships in the last 30 years.

One such nurse is Julia Smith (28) a ward nurse from Sheffield who is currently in Togo volunteering on board the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest charity hospital ship.

Julia said: “Being a ward nurse on the Africa Mercy is very different to being a ward nurse at home.  Volunteering is a very humbling experience and one that I treasure.   read more »

Young farmers in Africa are set to benefit from the efforts of young farmers in Scotland thanks to a unique partnership between the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC), Robert Wiseman Dairies and Mercy Ships.

The Spirit of Hope Campaign aims to raise vital funds for young farmers in Benin, West Africa, who are taking part in a Mercy Ships project which trains them in organic, reproducible farming methods designed to increase yields and provide them with the long-term ability to feed their families and earn a living.  read more »

David Clamp, a 43-year-old  IT Manager from St Albans, is running in this year’s Virgin London Marathon in aid of Mercy Ships, and has recruited his dog Tugs to keep him company on his long training runs.

David hopes to raise £2000 for the world’s largest charity hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, which is currently on a seven month outreach in Togo offering life saving surgeries and vital medical care to many needy people.  read more »

Truck drivers from across the South West will be polishing and priming their beloved trucks in the hope of scooping one of the nine prizes at the Plymouth Truck Show in aid of Mercy Ships taking place on the 6th June on Plymouth Hoe.  Among the prizes on the day will be ‘Best in Show’, ‘Best Classic’ and ‘Best Customised truck’.  read more »

Ali Herbert, a nurse from Gloucester, is running this year’s Virgin London Marathon in aid of Mercy Ships, to help provide free medical and humanitarian care to some of the world’s poorest people. 

Having spent six months in Benin last year volunteering onboard the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest charity hospital ship, she is now training for the gruelling 26.2 miles around London in April.  read more »

Mercy Ships has received a generous donation of 100 mosquito nets from travel and outdoor adventure specialists, Lifemarque Limited.

The mosquito nets will be used onboard the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest charity hospital ship, which arrived in Togo last month.  The volunteer crew will provide free life saving surgeries and medical care to thousands of people over the next seven months.   Some of the nets will also be used by the Africa Mercy teams working on land-based projects.  read more »

A young couple, who met in war-torn Liberia while volunteering on board the world’s largest charity hospital ship, are getting married in September but will be celebrating Valentine’s Day over 4000 miles apart as they are both back in their home countries – Scotland and the United States.

Pete Fullerton (26), a mechanical engineer working in Glasgow, met his bride-to-be Lindsay Blount, (27) a nurse from Florida, during six months volunteering on the Africa Mercy – a 16,000 tonne hospital ship with a crew of more than 450 volunteers from 50 nations.  read more »

A host of leading doctors, business leaders and heads of the medical and shipping industries joined together at the prestigious Landmark Hotel in London to celebrate the work of Mercy Ships and congratulate the selfless volunteers that give up their lives to help those less fortunate.   read more »
